So for a while now, I've had this hare-brained scheme to accumulate a lot of frequent flyer miles and then blow them on a first class ticket to somewhere sufficiently far away that I'd have to fly on a super-deluxe plane to get there, and enjoy the first class amenities of said super-deluxe plane. I picked Argentina because it's kind of far away, I've never been south of the equator, and Argentina seems kind of interesting.
But now that I have adequate mileage to do that, I'm questioning the destination. Argentina costs 125K miles, but I can get to Sydney for 135K using Qantas, or I can continue saving up to 200K and get myself to South Africa on British Airways.
While South Africa is awfully tempting, I could also wait until I've saved up enough mileage to take a friend along with me. I don't know that I could wait long enough to earn another first class ticket, but I could probably swing business, if I take the 125K or 135K option. (My account right now has 130K or so.) Note that the plane layout tends to be such that a companion could spend much of the flight sitting with me in my little private first class cabin. Did I mention gratuitous?
So, I play the Run My Life For Me card. What should I do?
