I walked out my door today, into the narrow little street it's on, and found myself face-to-face with about 30 Japanese tourists. As far as I could tell they were captivated by the names on the buzzer on the front door. I never expected locking the door behind me to be such a spectacle.

I had a college friend who had spent her last year of high school visiting relatives in Bavaria. She danced in a local pageant wearing lederhosen and fooled all the American tourists.

At Cambridge, I had to brave the cameras of hundreds of tourists just to get to the shower. Erk.

Ah the pleasures of living in an historic academic institution with antique plumbing...

(There was a good reason I chose rooms in the 1930's built court at college rather than one of the more historic but less practical ones.)

Tourist baiting skills are an essential requirement for living in places like Oxford & Cambridge. In summer it's more fun as you can watch them all failing to punt and falling in the river...
