The trouble with being out in the pub while various people, including your supervisor and your Syriac instructor, keep buying you cider, is that then you drink way too much cider.

On the other hand, then you can blame the teacher if you don't get enough Syriac homework done.

And as an added bonus, you get to make friends with one of your examiners, the week before your transfer-of-status viva. Or maybe that's a bad thing. I'll find out next week.
