Had my big day talking to various important people at Oxford and University College. I (finally!) got answers on how the Stafford loans work there, and I got a tour of the college by one of the current grad students. One of my top priorities was to make sure the graduate common room has a subscription to the Economist (it does.) I also saw the college library, the dining hall (with about the ugliest portrait imaginable of Bill Clinton), the chapel, and one of the graduate rooms. It looks like a nice place, if not as sprawling and opulent as the richest colleges.

Later in the day I met with Prof. Elizabeth Jeffreys, who is going to be my academic supervisor. Let me just say that she totally rocks. We spoke for about an hour, about most aspects of doing the course here, and it was one of those conversations where, 10 minutes after it ends, you're still grinning.

So I'm glad I got to come visit, as I now have no qualms about saying no to the other schools.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do today. Maybe go visit the computing services center and see how likely it is that I'd be able to find employment there. This evening I'm headed down to London to meet up with a bunch of Well people. That should be entertaining.
