Dear Ms Andrews,
I have the pleasure of informing you that the Committee for Byzantine Studies
has offered you a place as a candidate for the M.Phil. in Byzantine Studies
with effect from Michaelmas Term 2003.
This offer is subject to your acceptance by a college as a student on the
above programme. The offer is also subject to any financial or other
conditions which the college that accepts you may impose; in particular you
should note that your college will wish to be satisfied that you will be able
to meet the full fees and other costs associated with your course. Your
student membership of the University (whether as a research student or on a
taught course) will be on the basis explained in the Graduate Studies
Prospectus 2003, and will be subject to the statutes and regulations of the
University as amended from time to time.
Your application is now being passed on for consideration by the colleges
named on your application form, or if you did not name any colleges, to those
chosen for you by this Office. If and when a college is able to offer you a
place, it will write to you directly, informing you of its offer and of the
conditions attached. It is advisable that you make arrangements which allow
you to react quickly to an offer of a college place.
The Board has provisionally appointed Professor EM Jeffreys (Exeter College,
Oxford, OX1 3DP) as your supervisor(s). Should you have any urgent questions
about academic aspects of your work you should contact your prospective
supervisor(s). Meanwhile any other questions should be addressed to me.
Formal confirmation of your admission and of any changes in the envisaged
supervision arrangements will be issued to you as soon as possible after you
have notified this office in a suitable form that the academic conditions (if
any) for your acceptance referred to in paragraph two of this letter have been
satisfied, and your college has confirmed that you have satisfied their
requirements. -- If for any reason you decide to withdraw your application,
I would be grateful if you would let me know as soon as possible; you should
also inform your college separately if you withdraw after having been offered
a place by a college.
Yours sincerely,
